Inductor is an electronic device which stores energy in the form of magnetic field and also it opposes the changes in the current passing through it .It is nothing but a conducting wire wound into a coil. Amount of magnetic field energy stored is called as Inductance .
  • It is represented by the letter -> .

It is directly proportional to the number of turns in the coil. Inductance also depends on radius of the coil and on the type of wire(material)  around which the coil is wound .
